Reserves look for back to back wins as they take on Boldon CA FC in the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup.
Cameron Thompson’s side looks to advance in another cup competition as they take on TWR Wearside League 1 side, Boldon CA FC.
🗣We spoke to Reserve Manager Thompson Ahead of the game.
“Our start to the season has been average at best. We say that because we have set our standards very high and want to achieve all the goals we have set.
In recent games we have conceded some silly goals. From individual errors and team errors. This week we have worked on our defensive shape and have demanded that we be more disciplined in our approach. It is fine to be under pressure and be on the back foot. However, you need to be able to control what’s going on in front of you.
This weekend is no better time than to be tested on what we’ve worked on against a very good side in Boldon.
I am massively looking forward to testing our side against one of the favourites to win the Wearside league this year. We are aware of the strengths they have and also aware of areas that we can punish and get ourselves into the next round of the cup.”
🏃🏻♂ Central Defender Nathan Wakefield had this to say ahead of the cup clash.
“I’m feeling confident going into the game against Boldon on Saturday. In the past couple weeks I’ve been working harder in training to get my spot in the team and get game time in. We’ve been working on a well thought through game plan set out by the managers, and I believe we’ve got a great chance against a good side this weekend”
