Durham City AFC are pleased to announce the strengthening of the clubs board with the appointment of former Darlington FC director, John Woolnough.
John, a Chartered Accountant, brings a wealth of experience to the club both on and off the pitch.
Since moving back to the region in 2014 he set up his own accountancy practice providing accounting and tax services to numerous clients and small companies in the local area, alongside his volunteer role at Darlington FC.
During his time at Darlington FC he was involved in moving the club forward off the pitch as well as being instrumental in bringing current internationals and fans favourites Justin Donawa, Omar Holness and Osagi Bascome to the club.
John will operate a similar role at Durham City AFC where he will use his experience to build a solid foundation for the club to progress by implementing a more focussed and professional club structure as well as assisting the current management team in analysis and recruitment of players.
John said; “Its great to be back and involved in local football and I look forward to working alongside Olivier, Gary and the other board members as we strive to build a successful, community-orientated club on sound business footings. The immediate aim is to secure survival in Northern League 2 and create a sound platform for the club to kick on next season. It will be an exciting season with some exciting signings.”
The appointment of John allows current members of the Board to focus on securing a home in Durham.
We currently have a variety of vacant roles available to volunteers from media to marketing, community engagement to finance and we urge any one who wishes to be involved to contact us at email@example.com
Everyone at Durham City AFC would like to wish John all the best in his new role.
