Why did you join Durham City AFC ?
The reason for joining Durham was the ambition of both the managers and the club. I had offers from other clubs some being the division above however after speaking with Bill and Steve I was fully on board with where they wanted to take the club and the way the club should be ran. I instantly felt that I’d be a big part of the club and I could help them with my experience in what will be a tough but exciting season.
What is the team spirit like after last years poor final place ?
The team spirit is great, all the lads are getting on well there’s plenty banter in the changing rooms and on the pitch. To be honest last season has gone and we are only looking forward in regards to what we are going to achieve this season.
How do you think pre season has gone ?
Personally I think we’ve had a good pre season we’ve played a mix of teams and I think some results we’ve been very unlucky with. Our first game against Ashington was the first time we played together as a team with our new signings and there was plenty positives to take. Looking at then and too the Bishop game there’s been a massive improvement, we have strength in depth in regards to a squad we are bonding as a team and I think we will turn a few heads this season for sure.
Looking to Saturdays game do you think you are capable of winning after defeat in pre season?
I think Saturdays just another game, whatever happened in pre season has happened I think we were very unlucky in the game against Willington but take nothing away from them they took there chances. I think we are in a much better mind set going into Saturday and by that final whistle we hope to have the 3 points.
What are your own personal targets this season?
Personally my targets this season are to push myself, in coming back from an knee injury so I’m not 100% where I want to be however feel that I’m getting back to where I want to be. Again I always set myself 12-15 goals as a forward but also to help the team to get 3 points week in week out. As an experienced player I hope to help some of the younger players to learn and progress as we have some great talent in the dressing room.
Where do you think the club can realistically finish this season?
I think we will shock a few people this season, I think a lot have wrote us off before it’s even begun but as a squad and the mangers we have we have set our sites high which we are 100% capable of. We have a great squad and are still adding to that. I think anywhere in the top 10 would be more than capable this season.
Which three teams do you think will be up there at end of season?
The main side I think will do very well is Sunderland West End, I have a few friends that are at the club and I feel that they have a lot of strength in the side with a good manager to guide them, another I would say would be Newcastle University again they have some very good players and think they are looking for a good strong season finally i think Chester Le street will be there and there about’s this season and will get some good results.
On a lighter note who’s music is worst in the changing rooms?
Well as for music there has only been myself and Ellis who have played anything as the lads I think are finding there feet but hopefully a few will come out there shell and play some classics.
Who takes longest to do hair and get dressed?
All day long Curtis Richardson the man that would eat himself if he was chocolate absolute top lad great player but by far the longest in getting ready.
Final question who should supporters watch out for in the team this season? who has stood out for you so far except yourself of course ?
I think the supporter’s will enjoy watching all the lads at Durham this year we are looking to put 110% in every game and get some excitement and enjoyment back to Durham City which is a massive club in my eyes. Someone that has really impressed me at such a young age is Adam Thirlaway, he grafts whether it’s training or a game and is frightened of no one. He has bags of ability and will be a stand out player for Durham.
I would like to say a massive thanks for the support so far in pre season it’s helping the lads massively and we appreciate it, we want to get Durham back to where they belong and we want players and the supporter’s to be as one.
