Frustrating afternoon as reserves are beaten at ushaw moor.
The reserves were beaten by three goals to nil in yesterday afternoons evening kick off.
3 counter attacking goals sealed all three points for Wynyard Village, who could reel quite lucky after only racking up 36% percent possession throughout the 90 minutes.
Unfortunately, the reserves couldn’t make the most of their dominance on the ball and didn’t quite have the cutting edge to break through the Wynyard defence.
As well as the goals, the game seen 4 yellow cards And 1 red. Mitchel simons seeing a red on his first game back since injury for “stopping the restart of play”. Also in the book was assistant manager Kallum Warne for asking the ref the reason why a Wynyard player was allowed to kick goalkeeper Moss in the head and not be carded. Very frustrating game.
Manager Cameron Thompson has this to say after the game:
“ Out is all of the defeats so far, today has been the hardest to take. We missed that it cutting edge in the final third to really take the game to Wynyard. 3 counter attacks and 3 goals, is what it came down to.
We know exactly what needs to be worked on and over the next week, we’ll be back doing exactly that. The effort, enthusiasm, quality and want has been outstanding over the past two weeks in training and I know we can get it right. Most importantly, the lads believe that as well.
As I’ve said before, we are a very young squad. Yesterday we had 2 players over the age of 22 in the squad. With that we play a very certain way that can expose you to mistakes, and leave you vulnerable . As coaches we accept that as it’s influential to the player development.
We will back these lads to the hills, and believe in them 100%. I’m confident we can turn the results round and get back to winning ways”
Some debuts yesterday. Young goalkeeper Harry Moss started in goal in place of usual stopped Aidan Mutch. Along side new signing Kieran Maughan and Ryan Knight. Yesterday’s game, was knights first game in two years.
Central defended Ben Lowrie received Man of the match on his home debut. Lowrie has hugely impressed since joining from West Aukland Tunns and is becoming a house hold name in the reserves.
