3 Quick goals kills of reserves
Last Saturday the reserves took on 2018 – 2019 League and cup champions Sunderland TC Plastics FC.
The first half was dominated by the reserves who forced TC into the long ball which was nicely swept up by new signing Ben Lowrie and Luke Elves.
The reserves dominated possession. However, can’t make the most of having the ball. A few questionable challenges showed the frustration of the champions elect. But was not dealt with efficiently from officials.
The #Citizens were unable to create many clear cut chances in the final third. Closest chance came through full back Aaron hinds who went passed 3 players, only to have his shot cleared of the line.
55 minutes in and deadlock was broken. A well worked ball from TC seen the ball squared for a tap in. 1-0.
It took precisely 93 seconds for TC to double their lead. An absolute screamer from 25 yards out into the top corner. Unstoppable!
The reserves were shook. And Tc took perfect advantage of this adding their third of the game on the 59th minute.
Game over, and a long way back for the reserves.
Although, the citizens tried to force themselves back into the game it was always going to be tough and found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat.
Manager Cameron Thompson has this to say after the loss.
“Today is a very frustrating day for myself and my players. I felt first half we were the best team on the pitch and were unlucky to not capitalise on that. We got hit with three sucker punches and it really took the wind out the lads.
We won’t look at this defeat to negatively though, TC are favourites to win the league by an absolute country mile and in the first half display we showed not only can we match them, we can be better than them.
We will build on that, and work on our game management and our ruthlessness in the final third.
We will get there! “
