Hebburn Involve 1-5 Durham City AFC Reserves
The Reserves ended there last pre season friendly today with a 5 – 1 win against Hebburn Involve FC.
Cameron Thompson’s side started on fire with three goals in the opening 9 minutes thanks to a brace from Calvin Payne and lovely chipped goal from full back Alex Gudgeon.
Calvin Payne slotted home on the 34th minute to confirm his hat-rick. His first for the club.
The reserves totally dominated the opening 30 minutes, moving the ball around on one touch creating chance after chance and could quite easily of been a few more up.
The reserves dominance was met with a rapturous applause from the sideline.
Involve struggled to make their mark on the game, however found themselves pulling a goal back on the 30th minute, after a long ball over the top and the involve centre forward finished nicely into the bottom corner.
The reserves resumed total dominance of the ball till half time. Unlucky to add to the 4-1 lead.
At the change, 3 changes were made. New centre forward, Robbie Middlebrook replace the inform Calvin Payne. Matty Arnell and Alex Gudgeon made way for Jordan Nicholson and Aaron Hinds.
Reserves continued their performance creating another few chances which were just slightly out wide.
The game took a turn for the worse after Hebburn Involve winger seemed to stamp on full back Jordan Nicholson. However, the referee waved away the penalty shouts. This was meant with a few arguments between the sides.
Durham Regained composure and created yet another chance which seen Middlebrook, Smash an effort of the far post!
The game was all but over, at the Hebburn tempo had started to drift. This allowed Midfielder Aaron Hinds to find his 30 yard effort bend into the bottom corner. His first and the reserves fifth of the afternoon.
A very good performance from the lads which sets them up nicely for their first league game on the 17th August.
