Tomorrow, the reserves start there cup campaign in the Total Sport Alan Hood cup against fellow League side Jarrow FC Reserves.
The reserves look to bounce back after last weeks Alan Hood cup exit to Annfield Plain.
We spoke to Reserve Manager Cameron Thompson Ahead of the game
“This week we hope to not only secure our place in the next round of the cup but to perform to the level we are capable off.
Last week we started very very slow and allowed Annfield Plain to get 3 goals up before we caused them any real danger.
A number of changes has been made to the squad ahead of this weeks cup clash. We look to start from the minute the ref blows his whistle and get at Jarrow. Playing free flowing attacking football. We have worked on a number of things at training this week and I’m excited to see them come off!
However, Last season, Jarrow defeated us on our own ground. Out played us and dominated the game. Jarrow is going to be no push over and we are aware of what dangers they have. The lads are prepared for their threats and have worked on how to deal with them.”
Centre Forward Robbie Middlebrook had this to say ahead of the fixture:
“We’ve started the season in good fashion in getting that win against Washington. However, we still haven’t hit top level. We’ve started so slow in all our games and it’s took us till half time to get us going. This week we’ve worked on starting quick, putting our high intensity second half’s from minute 1. We can’t approach this weekends clash with Jarrow in the same way. We need to get going from the first minute and get at them. We’re improving as a squad each week and finding more and more out about ourselves. We have the capability to have a very good season, just need to cut out some of the silly mistakes and get going from the whistle”
Jarrow Reserves are currently 8th in the league after suffering a recent defeat against new boys, Wynard Village They were defeated by five goals to three in a 8 goal thriller.
Last season Jarrow finished bottom of the league, with 3 points. Their only win coming against ourselves.
