Match Preview: Durham City AFC Reserves V Wynyard Village
Tomorrow, we continue our league campaign against 7th placed side Wynyard Village.
The reserves are hoping to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat against Sunderland TC Plastics on the 2nd of November, which was their last game as the fixture against Wheatley Hill last weekend was called off.
Coaches View: ?
Assistant manager Kallum Warne gave his view on the game ahead.
“The lads are raring to go for this as we didn’t play last weekend due to the weather.
Over the last few weeks we’ve been working on things, both technical and tactical to improve the squad and we feel like we’ve done that.
We’ve also managed to bring two new lads into the fold, which add quality and depth to our squad at both ends of the pitch.
We’re confident we can get a result against a decent outfit and hopefully kick on after this weekend.
We also spoke to Attacking midfielder Mitchell Simons who is now fully fit and available for selection after a long injury lay off.
“To be back in the team and fighting for places after 8 weeks out injured with another injury it just feels great, after I suffered the injury against Boldon CA I had worries for my season and if I’d ever get back to the same levels but since rejoining up with the squad for training I feel fresh and really can’t wait to get going again. This weekend is a massive opportunity for us to pick up 3 points and push on to achieve our target of challenging for the title this season, with the way we’ve been training recently there is a real belief that we can do well this season but we must focus and maintain high standards including Saturday 3 points is a must against a good Wynyard side if we really want to go for the title we can only beat what’s around us”
