Match Preview: Durham City AFC Reserves V Norton and Stockton Ancients
This Saturday we continue the league campaign against the league leaders.
The reserves are hoping follow on from a positive performance last week, where they gained a point in a 1-1 draw against Wynyard Village. They may feel they deserved all 3 points so are going into Saturdays game in good spirits.
Coaches View: ?
Assistant manager Kallum Warne gave his view on the game ahead.
“Having played them recently in a cup clash, the game in there for the lads to remember, we’ve looked at how we can be more effective with and without the ball this time around and are hoping his will make a difference.
We’ve been able to bring some fresh faces into the squad as well that have of course added quality, as well as lifting the rest of the group to strive to improve. So everyone is looking forward to a tough game against a good side, but we are confident”
We also spoke to versatile ball player Mitchell Simons ahead of the fixture
“The lads are feeling good going into the game against Norton and Stocktom as the way we’ve trained had been very positive and have got the ball down and played good football. We’ve analysed the way we played against them last time and we know what cost us the game in the second half with individual errors, we’ve worked hard and will definitely be looking to cause an upset against the league leaders this weekend. Hopefully the new signings can help with this as they are bringing some experience from higher leagues into the team aswell as really boosting the squads morale going into the final few games of the season”
The Opponents: ⚽
Norton and Stockton Ancients are sat top of the league table with 7 wins from 8 games, scoring 33 goals in the process and look like strong favourites to win the league.
Norton will be looking to make them step up into Wearside League 1 next season, and then hopefully back into the Northern League where they can bring back the good old days to the club.
