Chairman Gary Hutchinson had pointed out to manager Cameron Thompson that results were not important and progression into the first team was the main target but the lads wanted to carry on and move up the table training hard during the week and the result was a good win away from home .
The lads showed great character and will be hoping to make the next step to the first team with Cameron Thompson sending a few players to train with the first team each week

It took 24 minutes for the first goal of the game, a well worked ball out wide from Callum Robinson to skipper Alex Gudgeon seen the winger bring the ball inside and hit a thundering effort straight into the top corner. 1-0.
Their was no real response from West End after the goal, as the reserves again dominated the remaining 20 minutes of the half. Some half chances and another effort from Nile Rutter could of seen the reserves double their lead but unfortunately didn’t make it count.
No changes at half time for Cameron Thompson’s side as they continued in their dominance of the game. Centre forward Jac Fleury constantly looking a threat in behind.
It took until the 58’ minute for the reserves to double their lead. Jac Fleury, rugby tackled to the floor from the west end centre half allowed Luke Elves to smash home from 11 yards. 2-0.
West End became frustrated and Started lashing out towards the reserve players. West end player Jay Stevens was later sent off for a head butt on Aaron Hinds.
The game finished 2-0 to the reserves.
Manager Cameron Thompson had this to say after today’s win…
“Today’s game could of been very very difficult, West End look to bully, intimidate and annoy their opponents but our lads were fantastic in their ability to ignore what was thrown at them and constantly control the game.
It’s a great start to 2020 but there’s still a lot more to come from this side, we still have another 4/5 levels before we hit our top best and we are going to have to find them to secure another win next week against a very good Hylton Side.
But these lads are capable of it, and I can’t wait for the next game. Obviously during the week we made 5 new signings and all of them made an impact towards today’s game. I’m looking forward to how well they come on over the coming weeks. “
