Thompson looking for Reserves to learn from Saturday’s cup defeat to Boldon CA FC.
In a recent interview manager Cameron Thompson had this to say.
“Saturday’s game was always going to be tough, playing against not only a team from a higher league. But a club with huge ambitions to compete in the northern League.
We looked to hold and contain Boldon for as long as we could and stay in the game. However, that was quickly out the window as on the fourth minute there centre forward stole some space and fired home.
We still kept them at bay for the majority of the first half and managed to play some good football at times. We knew there strengths and prevented them from using them. However, once the second goal went in. Boldon seemed to have the extra confidence and that much more space to play.
They took advantage of that and punished us which is what the best teams are able to do.
It’s great to play against better teams who can really put us on the back foot. They opened us up and showed us where we are really lacking. We now know where them weaknesses are and what we can do turn them into positive aspects of our game.
Yes Saturday gave us a knock and felt like a huge set back. However, the lads are still very confident and are eager to get back onto the training pitch and put things right”
